Abstract

This study seeks to identify the effect of using the Pentagram strategy on developing critical thinking in the Art History subject among students in the Department of Art Education. To achieve the objectives of the current research, the study adopted a quasi-experimental approach, employing two experimental groups taught using the Pentagram strategy, and a control group

. The researcher ensured equivalence between the two research groups before applying the experiment employing an experimental group taught using the Pentagram strategy, and a control group taught using the lecture method, to a sample of 60 students (both male and female).  who were divided equally between the two research groups. Furthermore, the researcher adopted a critical thinking scale and verified its validity and reliability. After implementing the experiment, the research concluded the following:

  1. The experimental group, which studied according to the Pentagram strategy, outperformed the control group, which studied according to the traditional method, in the Art History subject.
  2. The Pentagram strategy has a clear impact on developing critical thinking among Art Education Department students in the Art History subject.
