Abstract

Abstract:

            The research aims to identify the level of self-learning and creative thinking and critical thinking among students of the College of Education for Pure Sciences - Ibn Al-Haytham, University of Baghdad and the relationship between the three measures of the sample in general and the relationship between the scale of self-learning, creative and critical thinking according to the variable of type, specialization and stage. The basic research sample consisted of (116) male and female students, (58) from the first stage and other (58) male and female students from the fourth stage, using the simple random stratified method for equal samples from four colleges, two scientific sections, two humanities sections, and students of the first and fourth academic stages , with (29) male and female students from each class, and three ready-made scales were relied upon, the first being the self-learning test, prepared by (Jaber, 2018), and the second, creative thinking scale prepared by (Torrance, 1965), and its translation into Arabic (Khair Allah, 1981), who prepared the Iraqi version (Al-Hakak, 2010) and the third Critical Thinking Scale, prepared by (Guilford, 1970).                                                                                       

         The level of self-learning, creative thinking and critical thinking is high among students of the College of Education for Pure Sciences - Ibn Al-Haytham, University of Baghdad, with a positive correlation between the scores of the sample members in the three scales in general, and according to the gender variable of the stage. The researcher recommends encouraging the use of modern technologies and the Internet to provide an opportunity for learners to self-learn and discover knowledge to access information on their own. She suggests conducting similar studies for all Iraqi colleges and universities, including teachers, staff and students.
