Cognitive dissonance and its relationship to decision-making among university students

Abstract:
The aim of the current research is Identifying cognitive dissonance and its relationship to decision-making among university students. The sample size was 165 students at Al-Mustansiriya University. Two scales were used in this research: the cognitive dissonance scale, based on Festinger's theory, with (20) items and the decision-making scale with (23) items, also based on Festinger's theory thus the validity and reliability of these two scales were extracted, and the results showed the following features:
1-- University students have a level of cognitive dissonance.
2-- University students are distinguished by the ability to make decisions.
3-- The relationship between cognitive dissonance and decision-making is weak and in reverse.
In light of these results, some recommendations and suggestions were obtained.
