Abstract

The aim of the present research is to identify "the impact of life mathematics activities on the achievement and retention of information among primary school students."

1.There is no statistically significant difference at the level of significance (0.05) between the average grades of pupils (experimental group) who studied using life mathematics activities and the grades of pupils (control group) who studied the traditional method in the achievement test for mathematics.

2.There is no statistically significant difference at the significance level (0.05) between the average grades of pupils (experimental group) who studied using life mathematics activities and the grades of pupils (control group) who studied the traditional method in the retention test of mathematics.

The research was limited to the fifth grade pupils belonging to the governmental primary schools of the General Directorate of Education in the province of Baghdad Karkh / the first, for the academic year 2018/2019, while the sample of the research was selected from the fifth grade pupils in the primary school of Ghadeer, consisting of (78) students With (40) pupils in the experimental group and (38) pupils in the control group, the control and experimental research groups of the pupils were rewarded by testing the previous information and the age, calculated in months and the parents' achievement. ) Paragraph, and Ka The test of the type (multiple choice with four alternatives), the achievement test was applied on Sunday, 16/12/2018 on the students of the two research samples and fifteen days later, the test was repeated on the students of the two research samples on Sunday, 30/12/2018. Quantification, tabulation and statistical processing of the results using the statistical package spss.

1.There is a statistically significant difference at the level of significance (0.05) between the average grades of pupils (experimental group) studied using life mathematics activities and the grades of pupils (control group) who studied using the traditional method in the achievement test of mathematics for the benefit of the experimental group.

2.There is a statistically significant difference at the significance level (0.05) between the average grades of students (experimental group) who studied using life mathematics activities and the grades of pupils (control group) who studied using the traditional method of retaining information for mathematics and for the benefit of the experimental group.

In light of the research results, the researcher recommends the following

 Include programs to prepare mathematics teachers in the faculties of education with appropriate training programs on how to use life mathematics activities in teaching.

 The courses in the Department of Mathematics of the Colleges of Education and Basic Education include broad topics in life mathematics activities.

 Interest in the development of training programs for teachers of mathematics (in-service) and at all stages of programs concerned with the activities of life mathematics targeted and stimulating.

Reconsider the content and organization of mathematics curricula, especially at the primary level, to make it interesting and encouraging for both the teacher and the learner by including life mathematical activities to make learning meaningful.

Based on the conclusion of this research, the researcher proposes a number of studies, including

 The effectiveness of a program based on the activities of life mathematics in the development of mathematical communication and cohesion among primary school students.

 The effectiveness of a program based on life mathematics activities in the development of mathematical investigations among primary school students.

 A study on the obstacles to the use of life mathematics activities in teaching primary school students.
