The Psychiatric Health and Its Relation with Memory and Social and Economic Level of Students at Primary Stage in Bahri Locality, Khartoum State

Abstract

The study aimed to identify the relationship between the psychiatric mental health and memory of students at the primary stage related to the social and economic level of family, and to realize the differences between variables such as sex and area type. The two researchers used the correlation of descriptive method. The number of the study sample was 300 students and divided into150 male and 150 females. Their age was about (8-11) years old. The study sample was selected on equal stratified random sample from schools in Kafory, Mazad and Samrab area. The selection was based on the statistical data of the different social and economic levels for schools of Kafory, Mazad and Samarab area. Kafory’ schools were representing high income-group, Mazad representing middle income- group and Samrab was low income- group. To achieve the study objective, the researchers used Kohlberg's psychiatric health measure and Kassler (Memory), 3^rd edition. They analyzed the data collected by SPSS including Nova test method for analyzing the dual differences; Pearson test for analysis of Gradual Linear Multi Regression; Tukey Test; Nova analysis for Single Differences; Half Division test and Alpha Cronopach test. The findings showed a progressive correlation between the psychiatric health and its dimensions on one side, and the social and economic levels of students on the other side. Also, there was a progressive correlation in the memory in terms of numerical, reverse and information range and there was lack of interactive effect between sex variable and social and economic variable (high, middle and low) on the psychiatric health and its dimensions except self-feelings dimension. The Differences of psychiatric health were found between students in Kafory, Mazad and Samrab schools as per the variable of area. The study showed that the differences were for the favor of Kafory students and they were better than the students of Samrab.
