Abstract

Abstract:

        This study aims to identify the effectiveness of the icebreaker strategy in developing conceptual understanding and academic achievement in science for fifth-grade students. The research sample consisted of 72 students, selected through simple random sampling. The researchers applied a conceptual understanding test in science and the icebreaker strategy to the sample. The results showed that students suffer from a weakness in their understanding of scientific concepts in science. The results also showed that the icebreaker strategy has a significant and high effectiveness in developing conceptual understanding of scientific concepts. Based on these results, the researchers presented a set of recommendations and suggestions
