Artificial Intelligence and the Challenges of its implementation in University Education

This research aimed to identify the importance of artificial intelligence (AI) and the challenges facing its use in university education from the perspective of university professors in Baghdad. It also examined the impact of variables such as gender, academic qualification, years of service, and the number of AI-related training courses attended. The research employed a descriptive methodology, and the sample consisted of 70 professors from Mustansiriyah University. A questionnaire comprising two sections and 36 statements was administered to the participants, and its validity and reliability were verified. The results showed that university professors highly value AI in university education. The results also indicated that the challenges of using AI in university education were also significant. Furthermore, the findings revealed no statistically significant differences at the 0.05 level between the responses of the participating professors based on the variables of gender, academic qualification, years of experience, and the number of AI-related training courses attended. According to these findings, the researchers recommend establishing standards to facilitate the implementation of (AI) programs in universities and ensuring a conducive environment for the use of AI applications and programs in higher education. They also suggested conducting research including: the impact of artificial intelligence applications on developing higher or lateral thinking skills among university students and the effectiveness of using artificial intelligence programs in improving their academic achievement
