Abstract

The aim of the research was to identify cultural humility and cognitive flexibility among educational counselors, and to identify the significance of the difference in cultural humility and cognitive flexibility according to the gender variable (males/females) and the length of service variable among educational counselors, and to identify the relationship between cultural humility and cognitive flexibility among educational counselors. In order to achieve the objectives of his research, the researcher adopted the cultural humility scale of Gonzalez et al. (Gonzalez et al, 2021) consisting of (15) items after translating it and verifying the translation validity. The researcher also prepared a cognitive flexibility scale consisting of (20) items, and the researcher verified the validity and reliability of the two scales, as the research sample consisted of (200) male and female counselors who were selected randomly from the six Baghdad directorates of Karkh and Rusafa (first, second, and third). The results showed that educational counselors possess a high degree of cultural humility. There is also no significant difference in cultural humility between males and females. And depending on the length of service in cultural humility. The research sample also possesses a high degree of cognitive flexibility. There is a significant difference in cognitive flexibility between males and females, in favor of females. There are also significant differences depending on the length of service in cognitive flexibility, in favor of counselors who have served for 11 years or more. There is also a direct relationship between cultural humility and cognitive flexibility.
