The research aims to identify the level of mathematical understanding among second-grade intermediate students and its relationship to their complex thinking skills. The main research sample consisted of (315) female students from the second grade intermediate schools in the schools affiliated with the General Directorate of Education of Baghdad Al-Rusafa First, for the academic year (2024-2025) , The researcher adopted the mathematical comprehension test in the study (Muzan, 2022), as the mathematical comprehension test consisted of (45) items, and prepared a test for complex thinking skills based on previous literature and studies, and the number of its items was (18) items. The researcher used the SPSS statistical package to analyze the results, The arithmetic mean, standard deviation, and t-test were extracted for a single sample, as well as the person correlation coefficient. The results indicated that the research sample possessed mathematical understanding and complex thinking skills that exceeded the hypothetical average of the two tests, The researcher found a correlation between mathematical understanding and complex thinking skills among second-grade middle school students, and presented a set of recommendations and suggestions.
