Abstract

The Relationship between Rescuer Mentality and Optimism and Pessimism among Civil Servants The study aimed to examine the relationship between the rescuer mentality and Optimism–Pessimism among civil servants according to gender and marital status. the sample consisted of (221) male and female employees from the Department of Religious Education and Islamic Studies. The study adopted the study adopted a descriptive-correlational approach. The results revealed a statistically significant negative correlation between the rescuer mentality and optimism, indicating that higher levels of optimism were associated with lower levels of the rescuer mentality, and vice versa. No statistically significant differences were found in this relationship according to gender or marital status. These findings support the assumptions of Karpman and Seligman that enhancing optimism contributes to reducing unhealthy psychological interactions associated with the rescuer mentality
